Black spots on honeycrisp #594942

Asked September 06, 2019, 2:26 PM EDT

My 4 year old honeycrisp apples have black spots. If picked early the black is not very deep. I sprayed in June,July, and August with Myclotect. Could it be they just need thinning of the branches next spring?

Expert Response

Your apples have insect damage. Probably Codling Moth or Plum Curculio. The best protection against insects is bagging the apples. This is done when they are very small, the size of a green olive or smaller. Here is information.
