Hi,
About two or three weeks ago I noticed this in my front lawn. Is this a weed, or is it the grass going to seed? I can’t find any online pictures that look like this and am not sure what to do to get rid of it.
Thanks very much!

This is definitely a type of sedge. It looks like brook nutsedge, Cyperus bipartitus.

Ortho makes a product called Nutsedge killer for lawns. This particular nutsedge is not listed on the label but I would try it as it is listed for sedge control. The active ingredient is sulfentrazone and it is safe to use on home lawns. It might take repeat applications. Always read and follow the label.
