to many hellebores #745302
Asked April 20, 2021, 12:07 PM EDT
My helebores have self seeded and are taking over. If I just cut off these babies will that kill them. If not, what do I do to get rid of them and only leave what I want?

Achievable to block view #745295
Asked April 20, 2021, 11:49 AM EDT
I need some shrubs to block a view on a sandy hill north of Brainerd MN. The hill gets hot with the afternoon sun. And in Brainerd it can get -30 in the winter. Any ideas about what will grow and block a view up there?
Thanks, Brad Miller

pH mis-match #745281
Asked April 20, 2021, 11:05 AM EDT
Hello, I just received a free shrub bundle containing hazelnut, serviceberry, and button bush. My research tells me that these bushes prefer a fairly neutral pH. My soil is 4.6 (per last years soil test) and heavy compacted clay. Would it even be possible to improve the pH? I can hold the plants in a temp bed, put down lime etc. and add organic material in their final home, but eventually those roots are going to grow down into the original soil. Is that going to be a problem? How much lime would I need to add?

Artillery Fungus #745264
Asked April 20, 2021, 9:30 AM EDT
Last Summer my car and house were hit with a barrage of artillery fungus. This Spring I removed most of the mulch around the hard hit areas and plan to replace with rubber mulch nuggets; however, that is an expensive solution. Is there any environmentally safe fungicide (I have toads, frogs, and other critters not to be harmed) that is effective against artillery fungus?
THANKS for any advice you can give me.
