Dying Oak tree #593282

Asked August 30, 2019, 12:28 PM EDT

We have an oak tree that dropped it's leaves in August while all others surrounding it still have leaves. There are several other Oak trees in the vicinity that are doing the same. We are concerned that this could spread and wipe our all of the 100 year old oaks on the south side on Long Lake in Watonwan County. Can you give us some advice? I will enclose pictures of the tree.

Expert Response

You need to have a certified arborist make a house call to evaluate the trees in person. We cannot do so from just these photos. Go to the web site I am giving you and click on Find An Arborist. Once the location and zip code is entered, a list of certified arborists in your area will appear. Any one of them will be qualified.  http://www.treesaregood.org/

I contacted one of the Arborists (from Fairmont, since that is the closest to Watonwan County) to ask if there is a charge to have them come out.  I haven't heard back.  Can you tell me if there is a fee for this service?

Usually arborists will make the initial evaluation trip at no charge.  It may vary .  If you don't hear back from that arborist, choose another one from the list and contact them.  There is no harm in more than one opinion.
