Burr Oak leaf blight or wilt #592337

Asked August 26, 2019, 5:57 PM EDT

Hello -- I have many mature Burr Oak trees on my property and one of them is losing leaves early. I have been told it may be due to blight or wilt. I was hoping you might identify the problem based on the attached photo and recommend treatment for the tree. Thank you for any information you can provide, and Go Cyclones! Dean Ross

Expert Response

A diagnosis cannot be made based on the photograph. I suggest you submit a plant specimen to the ISU Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic.  Information on submitting a plant specimen to the clinic can be found at https://hortnews.extension.iastate.edu/pidc

A plant specimen is usually necessary to make an accurate diagnosis.
