Wild plums #592303

Asked August 26, 2019, 4:47 PM EDT

I have tasted in past years, plum jelly. I picked a load of plums this AM. They all have tiny black dots on skin that sometimes goes into the seed, but most don't penetrate the skin . Can I stew these plums with the dots for making jelly? Its like an insect has tried to puncture the skin & could not. Do you have a recipe for  using these to make jelly?
There is no seen bug or worm inside, just a thin discoloration that goes into a small area of seed.

Hi:

it seems that you are dealing with bacterial spot on your plums. It should be safe to eat. Here's a link that will explain this condition.

Thank you very much. Sometimes this spot goes further into the seed & can also fill area around seed with grainy black pulp...not very appetizing look.
