Oak Leaves Browning and Falling #585128

We have three Oaks in our back yard. The oldest (100 years?) and largest has for years shed leaves in the middle of summer. This year the leaves are browning and falling more frequently. I am including several pictures of the tree and leaves. Our other Oak trees do not do this. Can you help explain what is happening to this tree? We live in the Minnesota River Valley and have many oaks in our area. We love this tree and do not want to see it die.

Expert Response
Is this the first time this tree has done this? What percent of the tree is affected? The two most common oak diseases are oak wilt and anthracnose. Oak wilt starts at the top and works down, anthracnose at the bottom and works up. Compare the pictures and information in the following website with what you are seeing. You may also wish to have an onsite inspection from a certified tree care professional.
