Worm invades house #578850

Asked July 10, 2019, 5:05 PM EDT

Our home was invaded by this worm. We had the exterminator come twice but the worm is still hanging around. Please advise how to eradicate.

Expert Response

That is a millipede. They are beneficial decomposer insects outdoors but sometimes get in, especially during rainy times. They do not bite and usually die fairly quickly from drying out. You don't need an exterminator, but someone to tighten up/seal the areas where they are entering. They can be swept up or vacuumed when dry.
