Shrub identification #576039

Asked July 01, 2019, 7:32 PM EDT

We have this shrub growing in front of the house we purchased late last year. We have many choke cherries around and this one doesn't look like a choke cherry, but the berries look like cherries. The leaf is almost feathery and not shiny. The shrub had delicate white flowers this past spring.

Does anyone know what it is?

Expert Response

Hello,

Are the leaves and new growth a bit fuzzy? Does it look like they have hairs (pubescence) on them?

My best guess is nanking cherry: https://extension.usu.edu/yardandgarden/fruits/nanking-cherry
