I put new wood chip mulch on my Gardens this spring earlier, and now I see some what I think is Curly mushroom growing in several locations attached to the mulch. I've never had mushrooms grow on the mulch before, is it because of a really wet spring?

Expert Response
Organic wood mulch is naturally in the process of decomposing. Many fungi are members of a significant group of beneficial decomposers. Mushrooms are the reproductive structures of fungi. It is unlikely that they mushrooms will harm your plants. Rake off and dispose of the mushrooms so pets and children do not eat them. The mulch will continue to appear as long as there is plenty of moisture. The fungi will provide nutrients to your garden.
