Choke cherry Black Knot Gall #570036

Asked June 13, 2019, 1:58 PM EDT

Will this fungus eventually kill the tree and if I cut it down do I need to burn the branches in order for it not to spread to other trees? Can it affect other trees other than chokecherries ? Is it contagious ? Is there any saving the tree ?

Pruning can control the fungus.. All infected wood should be buried, burned or composted. https://www.mortonarb.org/trees-plants/tree-and-plant-advice/help-diseases/black-knot-ornamental-cherry-and-plum
