Not really a question. HopTrees in Edina. (Ptelea Trifolata) #569389

Asked June 11, 2019, 3:28 PM EDT

It took me w while to id the grove of trees located on a path at Blake Rd and Spruce in Edina. It is not a species the DNR shows in MN, nor is it on any MN sites I have found. There are mature (trunk with 7 inch radius) and young trees growing for several hundred feet below a canopy of Ash, Elm, and Cottonwood. I wanted to alert the university of its presence here.

Hennepin County Minnesota

Expert Response

Thank you for reporting this interesting observation. Hop trees are scarce but not unknown in Minnesota.
