Is my weeping willow dying? #569128
Asked June 10, 2019, 5:32 PM EDT
This tree has had it's ups and downs but the bigger it got the more full and green it was. Now this year it's not coming back! Do we cut it down or can it be saved? Every other willow in the area is completely filled out by now!

Expert Response
Willows have a lot of insect and disease problems and are not
the longest lived trees. It is not uncommon for willows to have annual tip die back. Willows can generate new buds along existing
stems and twigs. If the tree is reasonably
healthy and it was the cold that killed the buds, there should be new
growth created.
