Peach tree - what's wrong with the leaves? #566824

Asked June 03, 2019, 2:14 PM EDT

What is wrong with my peach tree leaves?  Leaf curl?  How can I treat it?  Same thing happened last year but it did produce fruit. In the fall I raked up all the leaves and discarded them. I have sprayed it with a dormant oil spray.  Please advise.

Expert Response

What you are seeing is peach leaf curl, a fungal disease that overwinters on the buds. Dormant oil will not help- you need a fungicide.  Apply a registered fungicide (such as chlorothalonil or a fixed copper) in fall after the leaves drop, or in spring before any new growth starts.
