Serviceberry leaves #565926

Asked May 30, 2019, 7:21 PM EDT

I have serviceberry tree in my front yard that just this year starting having yellow and deep leaves scattered throughout. I know the leaves turn in the fall but it is the end of spring and they are turning. I haven't noticed any bugs or damage. I did prune some of the branches that were lower to the ground in an attempt to give it some shape a couple of weeks ago. Would that have anything to do with it? Can it be saved? See pictures below.

Expert Response

I suspect the yellowing of the leaves is due to excess moisture.  The tree appears to be healthy so continue to monitor the health of the tree and it most likely will be fine once the rainy weather period ends.  Pruning would not be detrimental to the tree so you can continue with that if need be.
Hope that helps.
