Boxwood damage #565222

Asked May 28, 2019, 4:09 PM EDT

What is the source of damage to leaves on boxwood? This end of the hedge was in a shady spot but I had the tree cut down last fall and now it’s getting sun. Sun scald? Or possibly miner or disease? New growth seems unaffected. The rest of the hedge (approximately) 20’ also looks healthy. Photos #1 &2 are front and back of leaves

Expert Response

This looks like old damage and from the photos, it is not possible to determine the cause. The fact that the new growth is healthy is excellent. At this point, we recommend that you prune out any dead or damaged growth. If the weather dries out this summer and we have a droughty period keep your boxwood watered.
