What bee's nest is this ? #562896

Asked May 20, 2019, 1:37 PM EDT

Today, I noticed a golfball sized nest under the eaves of my front door. It is about 8 feet off the ground but fairly close to the door itself. There is a bee inside the nest and the bee is large. I think it is a bumble bee but am not sure. It's certainly not a yellow jacket and I don't believe it is a hornet. Thus, I am wondering what to do about it. Can I leave it alone or should I have some remove it ? Any advice would be very welcome. I live in Cincinnati, OH.

That appears to be a wasp hive of yellow jacket. I would remove it since it is at your front door. Best to do away with it late at night when they are less active. Have an aerosol can of wasp spray at the ready.
