Hello,
The leaves on my apple tree are looking rather sad. They are small and have brown edges, see pictures. The tree was planted a year ago. Is there anything I can do to help or this a goner?

Matt, Did you recently fertilize the tree?
The small yellow leaves and burnt edges look like there is too much potash or fertilizer was placed to close to the tree and burned the roots.
The tree may recover and your espalier may yet work.
Let me know how it looked last year.
What does the soil around your house look like where the tree is?
This is all I can think of from your pictures and 45 years of watching apples grow.
