Sick Oak #559799

Asked May 09, 2019, 12:43 PM EDT

In the last 2 or 3 years, one of the several mature white oaks around my home has developed significant branch tip die-back; two photos of the same tree are attached. This is an important landscape and shade tree for us and I'd like to save it if possible. The other near-by oaks seem to be doing well.

Expert Response

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, without being able to examine the tips of the branches much more closely, a diagnosis would not be helpful to you. I suggest you take some plant samples and visit your county Extension office for assistance. Here is their webpage:  https://extension.oregonstate.edu/josephine

Good luck!
