Hello. I see many trees in Broomfield that bud in a light pink and others that bud in a darker, almost purple flower. What kind of trees are these? Thank you so much.

Based on your description we think the light pink flowering trees could be American Redbud also called Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis). The dark purple flowering tree we believe to be a Crabapple (Malus spp.) of which there are several varieties. Wehave attached pictures of the Redbud and the Crabapple.
