Fungus on peach tree #557115

Asked April 30, 2019, 12:10 PM EDT

Hello, I have a peach tree in my yard that I planted 5 or 6 years ago. Last summer it provided delicious peaches for the first time. It has a fungus on it (see pictures). My questions are: 1) Is this fungus dangerous to the tree? 2) If yes, how do I get rid of the fungus? 3) Is there a way to get rid of the fungus without causing harm to the tree or the peach eaters? Thanks, Rebecca Swartz

Expert Response

Hi, This looks like shelf fungus that could indicate a significant weakness in the tree. I suggest calling a certified arborist to come out and check your tree. https://extension.umn.edu/planting-and-growing-guides/how-hire-tree-care-professional
