If I germinate these seeds in March in a cold frame, will they bloom the same year? Or is it best to sow in flats outside and then transplant in August.

Expert Response
Foxgloves need a period of cold treatment in order to initiate flowering. If seeds are sown between December -- March, the plants will not flower until the following year. You could sow seeds beginning in late summer (July-August) and then transplant the seedlings into your cold frame in the fall to allow them to overwinter. They like a nighttime temperature between 40F to 45F.
