FLOWER INDENTIFICATION... #553121

Asked April 13, 2019, 9:20 PM EDT

This cute little fellow appears every single year in the VERY early spring. It lasts about three weeks, then leaves us until next year. It must be very tough because it appears faithfully every spring through the deepest snow and coldest temperature. Can you tell me a little bit about it? I have included a picture.

Hennepin County Minnesota

Expert Response

We think the plant is a minor spring flowering bulb called "bluebell"--genus Hyacinthoides. We don't know what species.
