stunted new growth #489562
Asked October 10, 2018, 12:55 PM EDT
we have our Castle Wall (males) blue hollies displaying stunted new growth this October. this is not happening on the female Castle Spires. Could there be an insect doing this or the weather?

Expert Response
Unless you pruned the hollies, which stimulates new growth, the unusual growth spurt this time of year is due to the abnormally wet cool weather. Some hollies have put out new flushes of growth 6 or more times this summer, whereas hollies usually put out almost all their new growth once in the spring.
