Expert Response
You are absolutely correct, redbuds normally bloom in the spring. However, sometimes environmental conditions will overide normal growth patterns in trees and cause them to perform in unusual ways. Some combination of light, moisture, and temperatures have stimulated the tree to break bud, although it appears to me a fairly limited response. This is not something to be worried about concerning the long term health of the tree.
