In South St. Paul, we seem to be seeing more orb weaver spiders than I can ever remember. They are spinning webs between the wires connecting to our houses. Every morning when I leave my house it seems I have more. Last night I had on weaving across my patio door. Is there a reason/explanation for seeing so many?

A lot of people have mentioned seeing more of them this year. There is no real explanation. It is just one of those things that occur in nature. Be glad to see them though. They get rid of a lot of bugs we don't want. It may be that we all are using fewer insecticides so nature is again coming into balance between the 'good' and 'bad' bugs.
