crab grass? #483126

Asked September 05, 2018, 10:10 PM EDT

I find this plant almost exclusively in my front yard (and not my neighbors' yards. It can be growing in bunches or alone. I am able to grab most of the blades in in my hand and pull out with little effort the plant with most of its roots. How can I eliminate the plant and prevent it from coming back? Thank you.

Expert Response

It would be very helpful if you would submit a photo of the grass actually growing in your yard.  That way we could see its growth habit.

I haven't received the requested photo so just will give you a link to our page on various grasses. If you have crabgrass, it lays flat on the ground. This is most likely quack grass.   http://apps.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/weed/grass/
