Hello,
We have some sort of bug on our aspen trees and I would like to know what they are, and the BEST way to get rid of them. Willing to go forward with insecticides if necessary for the quickest and most effective solution. Thank you. Kathryn Hill, Berthoud, CO, Larimer County

Hello,
Unfortunately, while your pictures are very good, I cannot zoom in close enough to make a positive ID. However, it almost looks like the larger insects are feeding upon eggs? It doesn't look like they are are causing injury to the leaf?
Also, consider the time of year--we're almost into September and the leaves will be turning color and falling off soon. Using any insecticides at this point wouldn't be worth the application or effort. Instead, as the leaves fall from the trees, rake up the leaves and dispose of them in the trash--don't compost. You can mow them into the turf. But raking them up may break the lifecycle of the insect.
