Tussock Moth Caterpillar??? #475479

Asked August 03, 2018, 8:47 AM EDT

These showed up yesterday. We let milkweed run wild in our landscaping for the monarchs, but these little guys showed up in the last 48 hours. Yesterday they ate all the leaves off one of them milkweed. They are also finding nooks and crannies of our house and around windows. I looked at a few different websites and am getting mixed reactions: destroy or let them be?

Expert Response

Yes that is a Milkweed Tussock moth caterpillar. There is no reason to destroy them. They are not doing any harm.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euchaetes_egle
