What is causing this damage to my ivy? #474729

50 year old Boston Ivy is being attacked by something (insect?) but we see no signs of what. Pictures below, can you help.

The leaves show evidence of damage by Japanese beetles. The beetles may have moved on to other plants. If you look carefully you may still find some. When beetles are present, several usually converge on a single leaf. As a result some leaves are skeletonized while others remain untouched.
