ARBORVITAES dying each year!! #472657

Asked July 23, 2018, 12:49 PM EDT

I have ARBORVITAES that at least 2 or 3 a year die. I have had them replanted and some of the same have died, as well as some older. The only thing I can think of is the lime or pesticide the lawn guy puts down every year is killing them. I cannot find an answer.....Please help!!

We think these plants are failing to establish. There could be many reasons for this, including poor nursery stock (like being damaged or rootbound), poor planting technique (includes things like being planted or mulched too deeply) or aftercare, which includes regular monitoring and watering when needed for the first 18-24 months. Lack of water is probably the most common factor in new plant demise.
