Insect with ladybug like spots #470875

Asked July 16, 2018, 2:38 PM EDT

A relative of mine sent me this photo of a beetle.  I'm acutally a geologist, but I think some of my friends feel that I should know anything in the science area!  Well, I guess I do have an advantage over some, but I couldn't ID this one.  He has quite diagnostic properties, so I would think an entymologist could come up with it fairly quickly.

Expert Response

It looks like some type of longhorned beetle (family Cerambycidae).

Yep. I just got a response of "dusky long horn", Morimus funereus   That certainly looks correct.  Thanks.
