Fruit fly SWD? #468242
Asked July 06, 2018, 10:48 PM EDT
Hello, my raspberries have been taken over this year by fruit flies (my parents have had them also, within a mile), to me they appear to be SWD, I was hoping to get confirmation one way or another, also i was wondering if there was any kind of reporting for them. In addition to the fly themselves the berries are ruined by the worms.
Thank you for your time , Mike.

Mike,
Here is the monitoring information, and pretty much everything you need to know about Spotted Wing Drospohila for this year and control methods for next year. The fruit if picked before it becomes squishy is safe to eat, but does contain some extra protein of the the larva inside. http://spottedwing.org/content/swd-monitoring-oregon-non-commercial-backyard-gardeners
