Is it rust spots? And what to do #468051
Asked July 06, 2018, 11:27 AM EDT
I noticed some of the leaves of my Japanese Toad Lily have these brown/rust color smears. What are they? and what do I have to do. The plant is in a pot, in shade. Note that the water spots are the rain drops, it is not my watering. I often water it at the root.
Thank you very much for your help.

Expert Response
This doesn't look like a rust but we think it is a fungal leaf spot, possibly Anthracnose.
It's not uncommon, and there is nothing we suggest you do.
These plants really like moisture, so be sure not to let your pot dry out.
Missouri Botanical Garden states: "Easily grown in average, medium to wet, well-drained soils in part to full shade. Prefers moist, organically rich, humusy, slightly acidic soils in part shade. Soil must not be allowed to dry out."
