I have planted two apple trees and a sour cherry tree in my yard. I did fertilize and lime my lawn this year. It does get watered sometimes. I live near the fairgrounds in Palmer, AK and have rich topsoil under my lawn. Two years ago I planted Apple trees. Last year a sour cherry. They should be hardy for my growing zone. The Apple trees are now dead, and my cherry tree is struggling. Last year after planting the cherry tree it seemed like it was doing well, it put on new branches and lots of green healthy looking leaves. This year the leaves are more sparse and are yellowing. There are whispy spider webs between some of the branches but no visible pests or pest damage on leaves. But more concentrated wispiness on buds and blooms. The Apple trees went through a similar experience. Looking good the first year, more scraggly the second year, and dead this year. I did notice whispy spider webs, and some actual pests on leaves. Looking for pesticide suggestion to use until they are more firmly established, fertilizer recommendations p....watering......anything...hoping to save the cherry tree and replace apple trees, but want to succeed fruit trees are pricey. I have a friend on the other side of the fairground with mature fruit bearing trees, so it seems I should be able to succeed. I sent another question but the email address was spelled wrong.
