Brown spots on blackberries #464732

My grandmother had been blackberry farming for years. This year she has planted many different types of blackberries . From the bush that has blossomed berries already , many of them have brown spots so we have not been able to sell them at her stand. The spots occur on berries that are more inside the bush, shaded by leaves, and are also occurring on berries that the sun hits. They were sprayed by pesticides . We included some pictures . Any insight would be appreciated . Thankyou

We showed your photos to one of our Extension specialists in small fruits. This symptom can be produced by some fungal diseases and also spotted wing drosophila (SWD). SWD is a relatively new pest in Maryland. The females deposit their eggs in small ripening fruits and can spread fungal pathogens. https://extension.umd.edu/sites/extension.umd.edu/files/_images/programs/hgic/Publications/non_HGIC_...
