Is this poison Sumac? #461515

Asked June 11, 2018, 4:40 PM EDT

Hello. I’m trying to identify what type of plant this is. I think it might possibly be sumac, but I have a feeling I’m wrong. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Expert Response

It has similarities to poison sumac, but seems to be different.  The leaf edges are not smooth as we expect poison sumac to be.  They also tend to have two leaves at the end of the stem instead of one.  I cannot tell from the picture if they have red stems as most poison sumac plants do.  I would check with your local extension office to see if they can identify it for you.
