Please advise if I can prune yews in front of our house. I think they are Taunton yews.

First, regarding the weed, identifying plants on the basis of a single blurry photo is a difficult and time-consuming task. I suggest you take some more (and sharper) photos and resubmit this as a single question.
Yews are easy to prune - you can prune almost at anytime before mid August. Prune out the long leggy shoots. Read here:
