We live on the front range. This spring we've noticed about 10 rings of darker-green grass in our yard. Each has a hole in the center about 1" wide. No dirt piles around the holes, no obvious runways or shallow tunnels.
Are these Voles. or something else?

Hi & thanks for contacting Boulder County Extension.
We are a bit stumped with this one as well. The hole looks too small for a vole, plus the absence of tunneling makes us think it must be something else.
Can you send us a picture of the whole yard. Perhaps there is something else in the landscape that may give us a clue as to what is going on.
