Asked April 28, 2018, 5:19 PM EDT
Help! I have honey bees making a hive in my bug zapper. I don't want to hurt them, but I don't want them their either. Would anyone know what toto ? Or take them? Notice the filled in holes and the bee!

Expert Response
This looks like it may be a type of native bee (maybe mason bees) but we cannot say for sure. Native bees will plug their nest, lay eggs, and put in food for the larvae. Leave them be and they should be out by midsummer. Do not turn on the bug zapper.
Also, We do not recommend bug zappers as they are non selective and will kill beneficial insects.
