Pond worms #443529

Asked March 14, 2018, 2:39 PM EDT

Hello, I've noticed white worms in my pond that weren't noticable 2 days earlier. I'm hoping you can tell me what they are, where they came from, and how to get rid of them without harming my fish or plants. I think they could have came from the fish food. Thank you vicki

Expert Response

Vicki, Difficult for me to I’d without a closer look. I suspect they will not be a problem for your fish. I would be very careful About adding any chemicals to the pond to kill them. It looks like your pond has a high organic load which is contributing to algae build-up and probably worm production. A good pond cleaning and regular touch up cleaning may be the best way to keep the worm load down.
