Two of our usually reliable office pothos plants have begun developing dark spots that are slightly indented - almost as if something is eating them. The leaves turn yellow as this happens. A google search did not produce any results. Some of our other pothos plants did develop mealybugs earlier this year, so we've been spraying them with a diluted water/rubbing alcohol mix to kill the mealybugs, but this looks very different from that and there are no signs of mealybugs on the plants. Any guess to what it is and how to treat it?

In general, when you see yellowing there may be a root problem, it was kept too dry, etc.
We recommend that you take the plant out of the pot and check the root system. Prune any dead roots and remove yellow foliage. Repot with fresh medium. They like to be somewhat pot bound so repot only into the next size container. Pothos can tolerate low light and like a well drained soil.
