We've been battling an unknown fly infestation. We've tried treatments for fruit fly and drain fly to no avail. Can someone identify this type of tiny fly?

Ugh. I know how trying an indoor fly infestation can be.
It's difficult to identify small flies via pictures especially because I can't tell the scale from the submitted. Also, we need to know what room of your home you are seeing the flies. You might be best to capture as many flies as you can, bottle them in alcohol, and submit them to the York County Extension office located at

120 N Congress St, York, SC 29745. If the office cannot ID them, you can send the samples to Clemson's diagnostic clinic for $20 for identification and control recommendations.
