Symptoms of poisoning by eating Fresh green beans with white mold #439934

I had fresh green beans in refrig for three weeks. Developed white watery mold. I cut away mold and soft part of beans and washed the solid remaining bean parts with soap. I steam cooked them and flavored with butter and fresh garlic and ate them for dinner. After about seven hours including three hours sleep I was very sick. Vomited, dizzy and diarrhea for two hours. Very weak the next day. Two days later, still dizzy, but holding down food and water. Any idea how long until the poison is out of my system? I am very healthy 80 year old male. (Did a stupid thing). Thanks, Ron H.

Expert Response
I am very sorry that you had this experience. Bottom line is that even though you washed the outside mold away, the mold had invisibly invaded the beans as well. Food poisoning affects each one of us differently and can last anywhere from 24 hrs to 2 weeks depending upon the type of poison and our own personal ability to fight it off. If you have any changes in your health following this incident, please contact your doctor or health care provider ASAP. Food poisoning is nothing to mess around with as it can lead to all kinds of complications if symptoms persist. Wishing you good health!
