Tiny Yellow Balls #438787

We are carrying over some plants in our basement and I've noticed some masses of very tiny yellow balls that are below the soil level. They are growing on the edge of the soil ball next to the plastic pots. Help . . . Insect eggs or something else. The picture below looks much whiter in color but for the most part they are bright yellow. Sandy

The tiny yellow balls might be a kind of slime mold. Most slime molds feed on decaying organic matter and are not harmful to plants.
