My lawn is next to preserve land with many deer that visit and leave waste. They appear to eat the grass or weeds in it. What products are easy to use, safe and effective to repel the deer ?

We are not aware of any deer repellents that are usually used on turf. There are certainly plenty of spray-on deer repellents for ornamental plants, but they would be prohibitively expensive.
If you are concerned about ticks, keep your grassy areas mowed, encourage native plants and ecosystems with their natural predators and remove invasive plants (especially barberry and Asian honeysuckle shrub.)
