What is eating my hardy hibiscus? #429232

Asked September 29, 2017, 12:45 PM EDT

I have a hardy hibiscus in my garden. The leaves are being eaten away. Can you tell me what is eating away at my hibiscus and if there is a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks

Hi. When did this damage begin? If you have not seen any insects on the plant during daylight it must be a night feeder. It could be slugs or a type of beetle. Daytime feeding could be grasshoppers. Until you see the culprit I cannot give a firm diagnosis, sorry. For night feeders you can go out with a flashlight after dark and see if you find anything! Let me know if you have further questions.
