Sick Plum Tree #424615

This is a young Mount Royal Plum. Up until this year it was a normal looking tree. Then one by one the vertical growth has bent and started growing sideways. I need help to identify the disease or insect and possible treatment.

Expert Response
We don't know why the plum branches are growing sideways. The tree and its fruit appear to be healthy, so insects or disease must not account for it. Might there be evidence of this that we can't see?
In any case, if the tree is relatively young, some of the techniques shown in the following bulletin may be used to straighten it.

Or ask a certified arborist to take a look at the tree onsite and recommend a course of action.
