Can I save my rhododendron? #421055
Asked August 14, 2017, 9:38 AM EDT
I have had 2 identical rhododendrons side-by-side for over 7 years. They are in full sun and have large pink blooms. The one on the left has been ailing for the past year. It is shriveling up and dying. I cut off the afflicted branches, but they look sick inside and the problem is spreading. Can I do anything to save it? Is the healthier one at risk?

Expert Response
It is impossible to tell for sure from your photos but your rhododendron could have multiple problems, including borers or a disease.
We'd suggest pruning back the wilted branches into healthy wood.
