Leaf damage #420129

Asked August 08, 2017, 9:56 PM EDT

Hi...can you tell me what is eating my fruit trees? Libby Wilcoxson 9405 Marse Henry Dr. Louisville, KY 40299

Expert Response

This appears to be Japanese beetle damage. Fruit trees (ornamental or producing) are very attractive to these insects. When they feed they skeletonize the leaves that look lacy and then brown. The beetles emerge in late June then usually die off in the first week in August,  so controlling them now would be ineffective.
